SEATTLE, March 14, 2019 – Kaiser Permanente has committed to sponsor The Legends Tour’s Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup presented by The Boeing Company this summer and will title the women’s amateur team event that kicks off tournament week.
The event, title sponsored once again by Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort, will be staged June 5-8, at the resort property’s White Horse Golf Club in Kingston, Wash. The Kaiser Permanente Women’s Amateur Team Scramble will be held Wednesday, June 5. The professional tournament’s pro-am is set for Thursday, June 6, followed by the 36-hole professional competition on Friday and Saturday, June 7-8.
A field of 36 Legends, including defending champion Trish Johnson and World Golf Hall of Fame members JoAnne Carner, Juli Inkster, Jan Stephenson and Hollis Stacy will compete for the $200,000 purse. Veteran LPGA Tour stars in the field will include Jane Geddes, Pat Hurst, Rosie Jones, Lorie Kane, Michelle McGann and Liselotte Neumann.
“We are so pleased to have significant support from our premium partner, Kaiser Permanente,” said Jane Blalock, 27-time LPGA Tour Champion and CEO of JBC Golf, the marketing and management company for The Legends Tour, official senior tour of the LPGA.
“Kaiser Permanente is a well-established company with a long history of quality care and giving back,” added Blalock. “The Legends Tour is grateful for this partnership and proud to have earned increased support from one of the area’s most prestigious brands.”
Kaiser Permanente served as an Official Partner in last year’s Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup and provided emergency medical services and first aid support during the tournament. This year, Kaiser Permanente is designated as the tournament’s exclusive Premium Partner and will continue to provide on-site medical support.
“At Kaiser Permanente, we are proud to help our communities thrive,” said Susan Mullaney, president of Kaiser Permanente Washington. “The women’s scramble gives all of us the opportunity to participate, to enjoy the course, and to play a game I love.”
The Kaiser Permanente Women’s Amateur Team Scramble features 50 teams of two women each competing in a scramble format. The low-gross and low-net teams will advance into the pro-am the next day, forming an amateur foursome group that will be paired with an LPGA Legend.
The scramble features a 9 a.m. shotgun start and includes breakfast and an awards banquet following play. Registration is $125 per player. Women can register as a two-person team or as a single player to be paired randomly with other competitors. Each participant receives a gift bag, eight tickets to the professional tournament and an opportunity to meet LPGA Legends competing during the weekend event.
“We’re excited to join the best from the Legends Tour – LPGA players who have been an inspiration to me and many others in our community,” Mullaney added.
Washington has hosted the LPGA Tour and women’s professional golf for nearly four decades. From 1982-1999, the Evergreen State hosted the Safeco Classic at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, Wash. Current Legends Tour members who are past Safeco Classic champions include three-time winner Patty Sheehan (1982, ’90, ’95), Juli Inkster (1983, ’88), Brandie Burton (1993), Pat Bradley (1991), Jan Stephenson (1987), Judy Dickinson (1986) and Washington native JoAnne Carner (1985).
