The JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro has meant plenty to two-time winner Hannah Green, so this year, she felt it was appropriate to give a little something back to the local community.

Announced last week, Green donated $500 for each birdie and $1,000 for each eagle she made this week at El Caballero Country Club towards Los Angeles fire relief. All in, Green will donate $10,500 after finishing the week at 16-under overall.

“I'm super happy,” Green said. “I did a little bit of a tally last night, and at the start of the week, I didn't really know how many birdies we were going to make, so I was hoping that it was going to be a course where we make a ton. Obviously, it has been, so definitely a lot of opportunities where I could have made some more, but I'm grateful that I did make the amount that I did.”

Green took to Instagram on April 12 to confirm the money she raised during the event would go to the Los Angeles Fireman’s Relief Association, an organization committed to supporting LA firefighters and their families through various programs that provide medical coverage, life and accident funding and death benefits, among several other things.

Being Australian, Green admitted she knew all too well the kind of impact that wildfires can have on both people and a country’s landscape.

“(The money) is going to a great cause,” Green said. “Good to see […] some of the guys I met at the media day a couple of weeks ago and see their faces. I know, at least, where my money is going to. So, I’m very happy about that.”

Green finished just five shots back of Ingrid Lindblad, who won for the first time on the LPGA Tour on Sunday at El Cab. Green, who won the JM Eagle LA Championship in both 2023 and 2024, shot a 5-under 67 in the final round to end up tied for ninth, her third top-10 finish of the season.

She made four birdies on her opening nine holes before giving one back with a bogey on the par-4 12th. She added two more circles to her scorecard to close out her day on Nos. 14 and 17.

Both of Green’s wins at this championship happened at Wilshire Country Club, which, not long after her 2024 win, announced it would undergo a nearly year-and-a-half-long renovation. El Caballero had hosted the LPGA Tour before, with the Office Depot Championship taking place from 2002 to 2004. Although she had a solid finish at a different layout in 2025, Green is as keen as anyone to see what Wilshire will have to offer at the 2026 JM Eagle LA Championship.

“I think everyone is pretty happy. It looks very different,” Green said. “It'll be interesting to see what they envision and how everything looks in person, but I am looking forward to getting back to Wilshire, that's for sure. Who knows. It might be a different Wilshire for me, so we'll see.”

Including her triumph at last year’s JM Eagle LA Championship, the Australian won three times in 2024 and would have, in almost any other season on the LPGA Tour, been considered a front-runner for Rolex Player of the Year honors. Alas, Nelly Korda won seven times throughout the season and claimed the year-end award.

That’s certainly not to take anything away from Green’s 2024 campaign, as, top to bottom, it was incredibly impressive. This year she’s back playing the same kind of steady golf that helped her put together a tremendous 12-month stretch as we now head into the first major championship of the year.

“It’s been a really good week,” Green said. “I actually don't feel like I played my best. These greens are so tricky. Felt like the hole looked a little bit smaller sometimes. But I'm glad that I was able to shoot some low scores after not feeling probably my A-game this week.

“I haven't had a very good history at Chevron since we moved to (Texas), so hoping that I can use a little bit of this form to go into the first major of the year with a strong performance.”

It was a strong performance on the course this week at the JM Eagle Championship for Green, the two-time defending champion – but maybe even stronger was her support of the LA community off the golf course.
