Play has wrapped at the 2025 Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands, with Yealimi Noh taking home the trophy in Bradenton, Fla. From the group of 2024 Epson Tour graduates that teed it up, only Madison Young and Fiona Xu completed all 72 holes, as both made their first cuts on the LPGA Tour.

Young has played in two Tour events prior to earning membership for the 2025 season, competing in the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open and Portland Classic. The 28-year-old was 1-for-2 on made cuts in 2024, playing the weekend at the Portland Classic and missing the cut at Lancaster Country Club.

Young carded a 1-over 72 in her final round to finish 58th for the week. While making the cut in your first start as a member is an accomplishment, the week could have been even better for the rookie. Young played the 14th hole at Bradenton Country Club at 8-over for the week, which is highly unusual for any professional. Eliminate some of those mistakes and Young might have been a rookie to look out for this week at the Founders Cup.

Xu put together a very consistent week in her season debut, not carding a score higher than a 72 but also posting nothing lower than a 70 during her time at Bradenton Country Club. The New Zealand native has found success quickly at a young age, both winning on the Epson Tour and earning LPGA Tour Membership all before her 21st birthday.

Even though she only spent one year on the Official Qualifying Tour of the LPGA, she left a mark, breaking the 54-hole scoring record for the Epson Tour, finishing the 2024 Copper Rock Championship at 22-under with a final-round 64. And while she is new to the LPGA Tour scene, her game is already catching the eye of LPGA Hall of Famer and 22-time Tour winner Lydia Ko.

“There is an LPGA player now that came up from Epson from New Zealand called Fiona Xu,” said Ko at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. “So, I am excited that I have another fellow Kiwi playing on Tour.”
