IVINS, Utah (April 21, 2025) – Epson Tour player, former University of Southern California golf standout and social media personality Christine Wang of the popular Golf Girl Games has earned a sponsor exemption to compete in the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion, the new LPGA tournament set to take place at Black Desert Resort from May 1-4.

Wang earned the exemption by competing in an 18-hole tournament against two fellow Epson Tour players and Golf Girl Games members Abby Daniel and Alexa Melton at Black Desert Resort earlier this month. Wang shot 2-under-par 70, birdieing the par-5 18^th hole to seal the victory.

Wang grew up in Houston as the daughter of parents who had immigrated from China, and started playing golf at age 7 after her parents signed her up for First Tee and LPGA-USGA Girls Golf programs. She played state and AJGA tournaments, earned All-American honors and played in the 2019 Junior Solheim Cup on the victorious U.S. team.

She played four years on the women’s golf team at the University of Southern California and graduated in May with a bachelor’s in business and a master’s in marketing. She turned professional in June, and this year will be her first full season on the Epson Tour.

“I started creating content during my junior year of college because I felt like there was a lack of representation when it came to competitive, high-level women’s golf on social media,” Wang said. “I wanted to show that you can be both a serious athlete and someone who has fun, enjoys life and shares their personality. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive – and I think they can actually make the sport more relatable and inspiring.

“I create content to give people a behind-the-scenes look at my journey chasing this dream, but also to inspire more young girls to pick up the game. Golf has opened so many doors for me, like this opportunity, and I hope my story can help open a few for others too.”

The field for the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion includes American LPGA Tour legends Cristie Kerr, Stacy Lewis and Brittany Lincicome, as well as many players ranked in the top 50 of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking – Lilia Vu, Ruoning Yin, Ayake Furue, Charley Hull, Haeran Ryu and Jin Young Ko. The commitment deadline for the 2025 inaugural event is Tuesday, April 22.

St. George resident Ali Mulhall was announced last month as the tournament’s other sponsor exemption.

The LPGA Tour makes its much-anticipated arrival at Black Desert Resort, just seven months after the PGA TOUR debuted on the same course in October 2024. This distinction makes Black Desert Resort the only venue in the nation to annually host both a PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour event. The world’s best female golfers will take on the new Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course at Black Desert Resort.
