DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., June 10, 2024 – The LPGA Foundation is thrilled to announce that it has won the prestigious Hashtag Sports Award in the Impact category for Best Engagement for Good. This accolade was awarded for the LPGA Foundation's LPGA*USGA Girls Golf "One Million MORE Girls" campaign, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to expanding access and opportunities for young female golfers.
The Hashtag Sports Awards, presented by The Engagement Academy of Sports Entertainment, honor excellence in engagement within the sports, media, and entertainment industries. The LPGA's achievement highlights the organization's commitment to inspiring and empowering the next generation of female golfers through innovative and inclusive programs.
The "One Million MORE Girls" campaign, launched to celebrate reaching 1,000,000 girls through the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf program since its inception in 1989, aims to engage one million more girls in golf by 2030. By committing to generating $13 million over the next seven years, the campaign focuses on expanding golf access and opportunity, enhancing program experience, and increasing grant and scholarship support. This initiative represents the LPGA's dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that golf is accessible to girls from all backgrounds.
Since the campaign launched in 2023, the LPGA Foundation has raised millions of dollars to further expand its programs and introduced thousands of young girls to the game with the launch of more than 60 new sites around the world and numerous One Million MORE Girls clinics. Young girls are also being provided more opportunities to compete, as the LPGA Foundation prepares to host its first ever LPGA*USGA Girls Golf National Championship in Pine Needles, North Carolina, later this month.
"We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition from the Hashtag Sports Awards," said Nancy Henderson, LPGA Chief Teaching Officer and LPGA Foundation President. "The 'One Million MORE Girls' campaign embodies our mission to change the face of golf and create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all young women. This award is a testament to the hard work and passion of everyone involved in the LPGA Foundation and LPGA*USGA Girls Golf programs."
