Texas native will compete in her 98th consecutive major championship

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (Feb. 29, 2024) – The Chevron Championship announced today that native Texan Angela Stanford will receive an exemption to play in the first major of the 2024 LPGA Tour season. Stanford, a member of the LPGA Tour since 2001, will compete in her 98th consecutive major championship, the longest active major streak in professional golf.

Stanford, 46, has seven LPGA Tour victories, earning her first major title at the 2018 Amundi Evian Championship in her 18th season on tour. Her active consecutive major streak began with the 2002 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and included 66 made cuts. 2024 will mark Stanford’s 22nd consecutive appearance in The Chevron Championship, dating to 2003. She tied for third in 2011 and has 10 total top-10 finishes at The LPGA’s Major. Stanford is also the reigning Senior LPGA Championship winner, taking the senior major title in her 2023 debut at age 45.

Stanford has competed in six Solheim Cups, representing the USA in 2003, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. In 2015, she earned the winning point for the U.S. Team with her 2-and-1 victory over Suzann Pettersen. Stanford served as an assistant captain for the 2023 U.S. Team and will again be on Captain Stacy Lewis’ leadership team in 2024. Off the course, the Angela Stanford Foundation provides scholarships to kids in her community whose families have been affected by cancer.
