SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. – Brooke Henderson is known and loved throughout the Great White North. Throughout the year and across the world, the LPGA Tour’s resident Canadian always attracts an entourage of red and white.

Perhaps more than anyone else, Henderson’s Canadian counterparts on the PGA Tour understand her impact and cheer for the champion. After a 5-under round that left him atop the opening-round leaderboard at the WM Phoenix Open, PGA Tour winner Adam Hadwin reflected on Henderson’s career.

“Obviously Brooke is extremely impressive, probably at this point will go down as the best Canadian golfer in history,” Hadwin said. “And that’s no disrespect to Mike Weir.”

With eight tour wins, including a 2003 Masters jacket, Weir wields an impressive resume. But it’s true, Henderson has him beat. In just less than nine seasons on the LPGA Tour, the 25-year-old has racked up 13 wins.

Henderson’s most recent win came at the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. She earned entry to the event with her two wins in 2022, including her second major at the Amundi Evian Championship. Henderson went 16-under at Lake Nona, four strokes ahead of her closest competition, to become the champion of champions.

“She continues to impress, and she holds the bar pretty high for us Canadians,” Hadwin said. “I think every one of us is kind of chasing that.”

Nick Taylor, who is tied with Hadwin after round one at the Phoenix Open, said he tunes in to watch Henderson whenever she’s in contention, which happens more often than not. Unlike Hadwin, Taylor has even met the star a few times.

“I’m a big fan,” Taylor said. “She’s obviously leading the way with all the wins she’s been racking up the last handful of years. She’s playing phenomenal. She’s fun to watch.”
