NAPLES, FLORIDA | After opening with a respectable 71 on Friday at the Pelican Women’s Championship and warming up with a few wedges before her tee time on Saturday, Brooke Henderson suddenly disappeared from the Pelican Golf Club. A few minutes later, a notice went out that she has withdrawn.
On Tuesday before the CME Group Tour Championship, Henderson let everyone know what happened.
“After withdrawing from last week’s event due to an injury in my upper back, it was recommended that I rest as much as possible coming into the week,” she wrote in a statement. “While I plan to address any medical concerns and recover fully in the off season, I am trying to do everything I can to compete this week. I appreciate all of the support.”
Henderson came to Tiburon ranked fourth in the Race to the CME Globe and in the running for the money title and Rolex Player of the Year. She is scheduled to go out in the penultimate group at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
