Soo Jin Lee (Carlindford, Australia) is also trying to get back into the swing of a tournament season. She did not come to the United States to compete on the Epson Tour in 2020 but has committed to the full schedule this year. She missed the cut in her first five starts this year but comes into this week off a 68th-place finish at the Island Resort Championship.
“Last year was more like a break for me. I was working full-time for three months and then when I knew when I was coming back east I started to work out and practice. I think helped to relax but also didn’t because I lost the feel of playing in tournaments,” said Lee. “I was nervous on the course in the first few tournaments. I just couldn’t get the feel down and my course management was really bad I think. I wasn’t going to play this tournament to give myself more breaks. I wasn’t confident at all with how I had been playing but thought I would just give it a crack.”
This morning, Lee finished round one of the Prasco Charity Championship at -4. She is joined by eight other players at T3, just one stroke off the lead.
“I’ve never been in this position before so it’s kind of excited. I had no confidence the last few days hitting golf balls and the last few tournaments I have been missing the cuts,” said Lee. “I guess the practice pays off and I got my momentum going because just the last tournament I made the cut and my game is coming back.”
