HURRICANE, Utah — The fourth stop on the 2021 “Road to the LPGA” takes the Epson Tour to Copper Rock Golf Course in the Beehive State for the inaugural Copper Rock Championship from April 22-24.
“We are thrilled to be traveling to Utah this season to help celebrate the recent opening of the Copper Rock Golf Course. Copper Rock is an incredible new venue that is helping us raise the bar for our players in 2021,” said Mike Nichols, the Chief Business Officer of LPGA Qualifying Tours. “The course’s natural vistas of Zion National Park and spectacular new homesite construction make for one of the most unique venues we will see all year.”
Greeting the 120-player field in Hurricane is a total purse of $200,000. Individuals are set to compete in a 54-hole stroke play format with a cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes. The winner’s share for the event is $30,000.
“The anticipation over the past year for the return of women’s professional golf to the great state of Utah has truly been building,” said Kenneth Knudson, the Director of Golf for Copper Rock Golf Course located in the heart of the new Copper Rock community in Hurricane, Utah. “We are excited to welcome the Tour next week for the inaugural event and honored to support the dreams of the players on their road to the LPGA.”
Brigham Young University alumna Kendra Dalton (Poughquag, New York) is eager to return to Utah for competitive golf. She was a three-time All-WCC selection and the West Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018 for the Cougars. In 2020, Dalton made six cuts in 10 starts on the Epson Tour with a season-best finish of tied for ninth at the IOA Golf Classic.
“It’s great to see the Epson Tour continuing to add new events in new locations,” said Dalton. “I don’t know if many people realize how many great courses there are in Utah, so it’s cool to see an event being put on there and hopefully it stays on the schedule for many years to come.”
Action gets underway at 7:30 a.m. MT all three days with play starting off No. 1 tee each round. A trophy presentation on No. 18 green is set to follow final-round play.
