Michelle Wie took to social media to announce that she has withdrawn from the U.S. Women’s Open conducted by the USGA.
“While I’m making progress with my recovery, I have decided to withdraw from the US Women’s Open. It was a difficult decision to make because the US Open was one that I was looking forward to playing in all year, but my recovery and health is the priority. Thanks so much for all the messages of support- they really keep my spirits up. I am hopeful that I’ll be seeing you all back out on Tour very soon!”
The 2014 U.S. Women’s Open winner has cited lingering injuries as her reason for the WD. Wie has been battling a nagging wrist injury all season, withdrawing from the HSBC Women’s World Championship in her second event of the season due to her wrist.
She then shut herself down to take time to heal after the LOTTE Championship. There is no timetable provided for Wie’s return to play.
