Charley Hull, Hannah Green, Shanshan Feng

Thursday, Woburn’s own Charley Hull continues her quest for her first major title at her home course. Hull also played unofficial host when the championship was last played at Woburn in 2016 when she finished T17. She will play alongside major champions Hannah Green and Shanshan Feng. Green is making just her second start since winning the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June. The 2018 rookie is making just her second appearance in the women’s British Open where she finished T55 last season. Feng has returned to form in the second half of the season. She picked up her first win in two years at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic in July and followed that with a runner-up finish at the Evian Championship. She’s consistently played well in the AIG Women’s British Open as well with top 10 finishes the last two years.

So Yeon Ryu, Ariya Jutanugarn, Ayako Uehara

So Yeon Ryu, a two-time major champion, arrives at the final major of the season in search of her first win of the year. The former world No. 1 has had an up and down season in which she’s recorded just four top 10s, a rarity for one of the most consistent players on the LPGA Tour. This week, the Korean can lean on the success she’s found in previous years at the women’s British Open where she’s four times finished inside the top 10, including a T8 in 2016 when the championship was last held at Woburn. Ryu will play alongside another player who has found success at Woburn in Ariya Jutanugarn, who won the championship in 2016. Jutanugarn also remains in the hunt for her first win of 2019, but she is trending towards victory with six top 10s this season including a top-5 finish in her last two starts. Ayako Uehara is the final member of this group, who is coming off a missed cut at the Evian Championship. Her best finish at the AIG Women’s British Open came in 2013 when she finished T17.

Georgia Hall, Brooke Henderson, Mamiko Higa

This week at Woburn, defending champion Georgia Hall looks to keep her success at the AIG Women’s British Open rolling. In addition to her victory in 2018, Hall finished T3 the year before at Kingsbarns. She’s making her seventh appearance this week. She’ll play alongside fellow major champion Brooke Henderson, who is already a two-time winner in 2019. Henderson recorded her best finish in this championship in 2018 when she finished T11 at Royal Lytham & St Annes. Mamiko Higa rounds out this group as she looks to add another solid finish to her resume. Higa has three top 10s in majors including a T4 at the 2018 AIG Women’s British Open.

Ai Suzuki, Nelly Korda, Jin Young Ko

Thursday, Jin Young Ko continues her chase for history as she looks to become the fifth woman to win three majors in a single season. Ko captured the ANA Inspiration and Evian Championship for her first major titles. She’s making just her third appearance at the AIG Women’s British Open where she missed the cut last season but finished second when the championship was played at Turnberry in 2015. Ko will play alongside Nelly Korda and Ai Suzuki, who are both in search of their first major titles. Korda is making her third appearance at the AIG Women’s British Open where she’s struggled in her prior two starts, missing the cut in 2017 and finishing T42 last year. Suzuki, who plays primarily on the JLPGA, finished T65 when the championship was last staged at Woburn in 2016.
