DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 12, 2019 – The LPGA Foundation announced today the kickoff of its new fundraising campaign, Drive On For The Future.

Through this campaign, The LPGA Foundation will continue to champion opportunities for young girls and women through life-changing programs including LPGA*USGA Girls Golf, the LPGA Leadership Academy, and college scholarships. From junior golf initiatives to scholarship opportunities and financial assistance for those in need, support from the Drive On For The Future campaign will go towards a future for golf that looks and feels like the rest of the population: 50% men and 50% women.

The LPGA Foundation is making strides toward “changing the face of the game” and increasing female participation in golf. LPGA*USGA Girls Golf has grown from a “relatively small” program of 5,000 girls in 2010 to a large entity on its way to serving over 90,000 in 2019. The LPGA Women’s Network and LPGA Amateur Golf Association provide inspiration, golf instruction, and playing opportunities for a community of more than 40,000 women. The LPGA boasts the largest membership of female golf professionals in the world with more than 1,700 members dedicated to the advancement of golf through teaching, managing golf facilities, and coaching.

Still, only 36% of junior golfers, 23% of all golfers, and 10% of the golf workforce are female.

“If you love golf like I love golf, you want this game to be 50/50 – we need this game to be 50/ 50; it’s what the game deserves,” said LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan. “We’re asking any of you that believe in the game of golf and want it to look and feel like the rest of the population to donate $50 to help us speed our way to 50% women and 50% men playing this game.”

Those who donate $50 or more will receive a commemorative Drive On For The Future campaign gift. No matter the size of your gift, your donation will support our mission and help grow the future of the game.

“We are committed to empowering and inspiring girls and women through golf,” said Nancy Henderson, Chief Teaching Officer and President of the LPGA Foundation. “How cool would it be to go to the golf course and see half of the people out there be women?

“Everyone out there has their own Drive On story; obstacles that they had to face, barriers that they ran into whether it be on the golf course, in business, or in life. We are definitely driving on for the next generation.”
