It was a birdie fest Sunday morning as players took advantage of the calm conditions for the first time this weekend at the Ocean Club Golf Course. The second round of the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic wrapped up with world No. 1 Shanshan Feng atop the leaderboard at 7-under par, one stroke clear of Amy Yang. Feng, who is making her debut this week in the Bahamas, followed her opening round 73 with a second round, 4-under par, 69.

"I'm not afraid to play in the wind," said Feng, who won last year at the windy Blue Bay LPGA in China. "I get more excited and more focused in the wind. Like the others might be the opposite, yeah. So I think that is what is really helping."

Defending champion Brittany Lincicome surged into contention with the low round of the week with a 6-under par, 67 to sit two-strokes back of the lead heading into Sunday’s third and final round.

“I was playing really well, especially with the wind,” Lincicome said after her round. “I'm not trying to swing hard, I'm just trying to get it in play, and the golf course isn't super long so you tend to have a few wedges, short irons in your hand so you can attack.”

Lincicome sits tied for third at 5-under par with Lexi Thompson, Wei-Ling Hsu, Luna Sobron Galmes and Brooke Henderson. Michelle Wie jumped into a tie for sixth at 4-under par with Bronte Law, Sarah Jane Smith and Mariah Stackhouse.

“It was a nice 4:30 morning call today, trying to pack up and moving everything out, but definitely less wind this morning, so tried to take advantage of that,” Wie said Sunday morning after carding a 4-under par, 69.

The cut fell at 6-over par, sending home several notables including Brittany Lang (+7), Yani Tseng (+7) and In-Kyung Kim (+9).

The third round will begin Sunday morning at 10:55 a.m. with players going off both the 1st and 10th tees. The event was reduced to 54-holes after play was suspended Friday due to high winds.
