Luna Sobrón Galmés isn’t ready to give up her rookie title just yet.

Just 12 months ago, Sobrón Galmés became a rookie on the Ladies European Tour. Now, she is in position to carry that title for another year, but this time on the LPGA Tour.

“Amazing,” Sobrón Galmés said smiling when asked about her week at LPGA International. “I am enjoying the week, so it’s fun.”

During Saturday’s fourth round of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament, Sobrón Galmés settled for a disappointing bogey on her final hole of the day at the Hills Course to card Even par, 72. She dropped to four-under par but sits safely inside the 72-hole cut line.

“I’m really confident,” the Spaniard told LPGA.com after her round. “But the last hole was not as expected. The three putts there with a bogey at the last hole was really bad, but it was hard day today. My game was not very good.”

While Saturday’s round wasn’t up to her standards, it was good enough to put her in a tie for ninth and alleviate some of Sunday’s pressure of having to go low in order to climb into the top-20 and earn her Tour card for 2018. Instead, she’ll be able to spend Sunday’s round playing with the confidence she’s found in new caddie and fellow Spaniard, Jesús Mozo.

If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Jesús is the brother of LPGA member, Belén Mozo and knows a thing or two about helping players become rookies on the LPGA Tour. He caddied for 2017 rookies Angel Yin and Aditi Ashok during their time on the LET.

Luna and Jesús partnered for Stage II of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament and have found success ever since. After the duo advanced, they returned to the LET, where Sobrón Galmés finished T13 and T11 in her last two starts before arriving at LPGA International. Now, she’s in position to earn her LPGA Tour card.

While she may be a rookie next year, Sobrón Galmés has already shined on golf’s biggest stage.

Two years ago, she joined the elite of women’s golf when she became the only amateur to make the cut at the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Turnberry. Sobrón Galmés finished tied for 13^th to take home the Smyth Salver for low amateur honors, a distinction earned by the likes of Lydia Ko, Michelle Wie and Anna Nordqvist.

Sunday, she’ll look to add another title to her resume as a rookie on the LPGA Tour.

“I think it was my dream since I was little,” Sobrón Galmés said with a smile about joining the Tour. “I think that the top players are on the LPGA, so I want to be there.”
