Eight countries will compete in July for the second playing of the UL International Crown held at the Merit Club outside Chicago. Based on the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, the eight countries that will compete are - Republic of Korea, United States, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, England, Australia, and China. The countries have been determined, but their final seed and team members are still up for grabs.
With the conclusion of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June, the four highest ranked players from each of the eight qualifying countries will make up their respective teams for the matches. The eight countries will be seeded #1 through #8, and they will be divided into two pools based on the cumulative team score of the four players’ Rolex World Ranking.
After last week's Volunteers of America Texas Shootout, we saw movement in the team standings with Team England taking over the sixth spot bumping Australia into the seventh position in the team standings.
Amy Yang moved into the fourth spot for the Republic of Korea team with her outstanding play and T-2 finish in Texas. Players currently on the bubble teeing it up in this week for Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic will have a great opportunity to shake up the teams with many top players taking a week off in this four-week stretch. So Yeon Ryu, Brittany Lincicome, Wei-Ling Hsu and Simin Feng all sitting in a good spot within a few points of taking that fourth position on the team.
