With only one week left for teams to earn a spot in the second playing of the UL International Crown, this week's ANA Inspiration plays an important role for teams on the bubble hoping to secure one of the final team spots.
The eight competing countries will be finalized by the combined rankings of the top four players from each country at the conclusion of the ANA Inspiration. Countries must have a minimum of four ranked players to be eligible. Even though the countries are determined at that time, the final field of 32 players won’t be named until the rankings of June 13.
With little movement in the team standings after last week's Kia Classic, Team Australia looks to hang onto their lead over Team Sweden as they make a final push in securing a team spot. Team Sweden sits only 11 points back in the top bubble spot and with Anna Nordqvist, Pernilla Lindberg, Maria McBride and Carolina Hedwall each in the field this week they are hoping it will give them the push they need to finish among the top-eight teams.
There continues to be movement on the bubble for Team United States with Jessica Korda and Alison Lee trading positions over the past month. Other players to watch on the bubble for teams Republic of Korea and Chinese Taipei are In Gee Chun and Wei-Ling Hsu all sitting in the top bubble spot within a few points of taking that fourth position on the team.
