CME Group Cares Weekend will benefit Wounded Warrior Project® and Bright Pink®

NAPLES, Fla. (November 8, 2016) – CME Group and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) expanded the Race to the CME Globe weekend charitable program in 2016 to include Bright Pink®, a national non-profit organization focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. Bright Pink® joins Wounded Warrior Project® in the expanded partnership, CME Group Cares Weekend.

CME Group Cares Weekend is a season-long charitable giving program that turns eagles into donations. For each eagle recorded during weekend play (Saturday and Sunday) throughout the 2016 LPGA Tour season, CME Group donates $1,000 to the program’s total donation count. During the CME Group Tour Championship, November 15 – 20 at Tiburón Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples the amount contributed per eagle increases to $5,000 throughout the weekend.

The money raised will go towards a charitable pool and be split evenly between Wounded Warrior Project® and Bright Pink®. The total program donation will be celebrated during the 18 green ceremony following play on Sunday, November 20 at the season-ending Tour Championship. CME Group and the LPGA will present a formal check to Wounded Warrior Project® and Bright Pink® representing the season-long donations.

Following the TOTO Japan Classic last weekend, LPGA Tour professionals have recorded a total of 286 eagles throughout weekend play bringing the CME Group Cares Weekend donation pot to $278,000 leading into the final event prior to returning to Naples for the CME Group Tour Championship. In 2015, CME Group and the LPGA donated $300,000 towards their season-long program after LPGA Tour players recorded a total of 278 eagles throughout the season.
