Jang Ties Tournament Course Record, Leads By Six
Ha Na Jang has distanced herself from the rest of the field and holds a six stroke lead after tying the tournament course record with a 10-under 62 at the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Classic on Saturday.
The South Korean was bogey-free and had ten birdies in the third round, five apiece on the front and back. The result was Jang’s best career score in tournament play, beating her previous low of 65.
“I want keep this, my scorecard,” Jang said. “Always I want inside my pocket.”
Unfortunately for Jang, her 62 only tied the best round of the day after England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff also matched the tournament record set by Inbee Park in 2014 earlier in the afternoon.
Ewart Shadoff joined Jang in establishing a new career low round at Miramar Golf & Country Club. She has made significant strides up the leaderboard after shooting a 6-over 78 on Thursday and now sits tied for eighth at -6.
Jodi Ewart Shadoff Round of 62 Interview
Ewart Shadoff on her feelings today versus Day 1: “A lot happier. (Laughter.) Definitely. Yeah I was very frustrated. I think the weather played a huge part in today. Obviously there was no wind, and that’s the difference around here. I mean, there was hardly a breath of wind today, and the course just plays so differently. To be able to take advantage of it is pretty good. “
Shanshan Feng (-10) of China is alone in second place six shots behind Jang. South Korean Hee Young Park (-9) will round out the final threesome on Sunday.
“I would say overall the first few days I’ve done well. In the past three weeks I’ve had some very good tournaments,” said Feng, who has finishes of T4 and solo 4th in her last two LPGA starts. “So I’m just happy that I can keep on with my good condition. Somebody shot 62 today. Maybe I’ll shoot 62 tomorrow. Who knows?”
Canadian Brooke Henderson and South African Lee-Anne Pace are tied for fourth at 8-under par, while South Korea’s Hyo Joo Kim and Japan’s Sakura Yokomine sit tied for sixth at -7.

Adding To The Record Books
The pair of 62s by Ha Na Jang and Jodi Ewart Shadoff matches the low 18-hole score to par on Tour in 2016, with four other players having previously accomplished the feat. It is the second time two players shot a round of 10-under par at the same tournament this year, but the first time it was in the same round.
Jang could potentially top the largest margin of victory on the LPGA in 2016 (6 strokes, Lexi Thompson, Honda LPGA Thailand). Her four-stroke win at the HSBC Women’s Champions is tied for the third largest victory margin of the season.
