Top Ranked
In what is one of the strongest fields of the year, 22 of the top-25 ranked players in the world will tee it up at this week’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Two-time major champion and world No.1 Lydia Ko headlines the field along with three-time defending champion Inbee Park and major champion and world No.3 Lexi Thompson. World No.4 Brooke Henderson is also in the field, hoping to win her first major championship this week in Sahalee. She finished T-5 in her first appearance last year at Westchester Country Club.
Former Champs
Ten former winners of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship are in the field this week at Sahalee, including two-time winner Laura Davies, two-time champion Juli Inkster, Cristie Kerr, Anna Nordqvist, three-time winner Se Ri Pak, Suzann Pettersen, two-time winner Yani Tseng and Karrie Webb.
Pre-Park Domination
Shanshan Feng was the last player not named Inbee Park to win the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, capturing her first major title and first win on the LPGA Tour at the 2012 then titled Wegmans LPGA Championship. The four-time LPGA champion hasn't won on Tour since 2014, Feng recently defended her title on the Ladies European Tour in her home country of China. She has three top-10 finishes so far in 2016.
T&CP Qualifiers
The top-8 finishers at the LPGA T&CP National Championship in 2015 earned their way into the field at this week’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Laurie Rinker won the Championship and will tee it up this week in Sahalee along with Jean Bartholomew, Jennifer Bermingham, Jessica Carafiello, Liz Caron, Lisa Grimes, Karen Paolozzi, and Hillery Wilson.
Already A Winner
All ten winners so far this season on the LPGA Tour are in the field this week at the season’s second major. Ariya Jutanugarn is chasing her fourth consecutive victory on Tour, having won all three events in May before skipping last week’s ShopRite LPGA Classic. She has the most victories so far this season, but Lydia Ko, Ha Na Jang, and Haru Nomura have each won twice. Jang is making her first start since withdrawing from the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. Winners Hyo Joo Kim, Sei Young Kim, Minjee Lee, Anna Nordqvist, Jenny Shin and Lexi Thompson are also in the field.
