Shanshan Feng, Minjee Lee, Jiyai Shin
9:02 a.m. – 1st Tee – Group 15
Winners the past two weeks on Tour, Shanshan Feng and Minjee Lee, will play alongside former LPGA star Jiyai Shin during the opening round of the TOTO JAPAN CLASSIC. For the past three months, Feng has played an incredible stretch of golf that includes four top-4 finishes and a win last week at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. Feng has not finished outside the top-4 on Tour since winning the bronze medal at the Olympic games in Rio in August. The week before Feng’s victory, Lee picked up her second win of the season at the Blue Bay LPGA, holding off a late final round charge from world No.2 Ariya Jutangarn and Jessica Korda. Shin is a two-time winner of the TOTO JAPAN Classic who has four more top-10s in her nine starts in this event.
Lydia Ko, Stacy Lewis, Bo-Mee Lee
9:35 a.m. – 1st Tee – Group 21
World No.1 Lydia Ko will play the first round of the TOTO JAPAN CLASSIC alongside Stacy Lewis and the JLPGA’s Bo-Mee Lee. Ko is a four-time winner this season making her first start in this event. She’s coming off a T-12 finish at last week’s Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia after parting with her caddie following the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship. Lewis is still looking to break through for her first win since 2014 but has a strong chance this week in Japan where she won in 2012 and has four more top-10 finishes. She’s coming off a T-33 showing last week in Malaysia where she made her first start in more than a month. Lee, a four-time winner this season on the JLPGA, is the final member of this group and making her fourth start of 2016 on the LPGA Tour this week.
Sei Young Kim, Ariya Jutanugarn, Sun-Ju Ahn
9:57 a.m. – 1st Tee – Group 25
Sei Young Kim kicks off her first trip to the TOTO JAPAN CLASSIC alongside world No.2 Ariya Jutanugarn and defending champion Sun-Ju Ahn. Kim is a two-time winner in 2016 looking to match her three win season in 2015. Jutanugarn is making her second appearance in this event where she finished fifth last season. The five-time winner in 2016 is coming off a T-43 finish last week in Malaysia. Ahn is making her third start of the year on the LPGA Tour. She is a two-time winner this season on the JLPGA, her most recent victory coming just three weeks ago.
