The winner this week in Thailand will likely be one of the most accurate drivers on Tour.

Siam Country Club’s Old Course, which has hosted the Honda LPGA Thailand for the past six years, places a premium on the tee shot and will reward players who can position themselves well for their approach.

“The biggest challenge is tee shot placement for a proper iron shot into the undulating greens,” says LPGA Manager of Rules and Competition Brad Alexander.

Players like So Yeon Ryu, In Gee Chun, Ai Miyazato, Stacy Lewis and Hyo Joo Kim are in the field this week and rank in the top-10 in Driving Accuracy on Tour in 2016. Their talents will be put to the test on the par 4’s, particularly those on the front nine. Expect the par 4, 2^nd hole, par 4, 3^rd hole, par 4, 6^th hole, and par 4, 9^th hole to be the most challenge for players going out. On the back nine, the par 3, 16^th hole will be the most challenging and Alexander suggests players should take advantage of the course set-up wherever they can.

The Old Course will play to 6,568 yards this week at a par 72 with Bermuda grass throughout. Although players who miss the fairway will be challenged on the second shot, the rough won’t be overly penal at just two inches in height. The greens however will be a major challenge for players this week that will be both undulating and fast, running at 11 ½ on the stimpmeter.

Beatriz Recari set a course record 9-under par, 63 in the final round of the Honda LPGA Thailand in 2015, where Amy Yang won at 15-under par for the championship.
