4. Even LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan May Wear a Kilt

Don’t be surprised to see men wearing skirts around this week’s event. Swinging Skirts is a Taiwanese based company that advocates the promotion of women’s and junior golf around the world. To add a little more fun to the event, staff wear colorful kilts or skirts in celebration of the kilts worn years ago at the home of golf in Scotland at St. Andrews. LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan was spotted wearing one of the kilts at last year’s event.

3. Much More to See

Large, colorful pieces of artwork will be on display throughout the course at Lake Merced Golf Club during this week’s event in celebration of art and culture. Artist Hung Yi designed this year’s artwork, which will also be on display outside San Francisco’s City Hall.

2. A Venue Full of History

Lake Merced Golf Club hosts the second playing of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. The historic venue was founded in 1922 and hosted PGA Tour events, U.S. Open Qualifying as well as the legendary Babe Zaharias during the 1941 San Francisco Women’s Open Match Play Championship.
