BOSTON, Feb. 25, 2015 – The tournament field is set for the 4th annual Walgreens Charity Championship next week in Sun City West, Ariz. Ten LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame members have committed to play in the LPGA Legends Tour’s season-opening event.
Set for March 6-8, Hall of Famers Amy Alcott, Pat Bradley, Donna Caponi, JoAnne Carner, Sandra Hayne, Juli Inkster, Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, Patty Sheehan and Hollis Stacy will headline the field.
The tournament returns to Grandview Golf Course, where the field of 50 LPGA Legends will compete for a purse of $250,000.
The event’s 2014 champion, Liselotte Neumann of Sweden, will return to defend her title. Neumann is a 13-time LPGA Tour winner, including a win at the LPGA’s 1998 Standard Register PING tournament in Phoenix.
Michelle McGann of Florida will make her Legends Tour debut next week. McGann won seven LPGA tournaments in her 21-year LPGA Tour career.
Players in the event with Arizona ties include Danielle Ammaccapane, Lori Atsedes, Jane Crafter, Amy Fruwirth, Christa Johnson, Betsy King, Anne Marie Palli, Cindy Rarick, Tina Tombs and Sherri Turner.
Jan Stephenson of Australia, a member of the Legends Tour’s Hall of Fame, will also compete next week in Arizona. Stephenson is the career leading money winner on the Legends Tour.
One final player in the tournament field will be determined at a local qualifying event next Thursday, March 5. That event will be held at 8 a.m., at Grandview Golf Course, and will award a spot into the tournament to the player recording the lowest score.
The schedule of events for the Walgreens Charity Championship opens with the tournament pro-am on Friday, March 6, starting at 9:30 a.m. Admission into the pro-am is free, but donations to the event’s official charities are encouraged. All contributions will support the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the American Diabetes Association.
Professional tournament tee times start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8.
Tickets are on sale for $10 per adult each day at all area Walgreens stores at $5 off pricing at the gate. Kids 17-under, as well as active military with an ID, will be admitted free of charge.
Public parking is also free at a lot located at 19803 N.R.H. Johnson Boulevard, Sun City West, Ariz., 85375. Complimentary shuttle service to the main entrance of Grandview Golf Course will be provided to and from the parking lot.
