Sherri Turner added to star-studded Legends Tour field with 410 career LPGA wins
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 10, 2015 - The Epson Tour, Road to the LPGA, is excited to announce that a strong field of 144 aspiring LPGA Tour stars will tee it up Thursday, April 16 through Sunday, April 19 at Cypress Lake Country Club in the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial. Eight of the top 10 on the current Volvik Race for the Card money list are in the final field.
The Epson Tour field will feature the 16 of the top 20 on the Volvik Race for the Card money list including Gateway Classic runner-up and current No. 2 Haley Italia (Pace, Florida) and Volvik Championship winner and current No. 3 Katie Kempter (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Brianna Do (Lakewood, California), who ranks sixth on the money list, enters the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial as the only player on Tour with top 10 finishes in the first three events.
The field also includes high profile names like Brittany Henderson, who ranks fifth on the Volvik Race for the Card money list. She is the older sister of former World Amateur No. 1 Brooke Henderson. Su Oh, who won the RACV Australian Ladies Masters in February, is expected to make her Epson Tour debut. Other favorites in the field are 2011 Ping National Player of the Year Marta Silva (Georgia) and 2012 Ping National Player of the Year Lindy Duncan (Duke).
The Epson Tour field is comprised of 17 LPGA Tour members, 15 players from the state of Florida and
representatives from 27 different countries. The field also includes four 2013-14 WGCA (Women’s Golf Coaches Association) All-Americans: Grace Na (Pepperdine), Yu Liu (Duke), Augusta James (N.C. State) and Chirapat Jao-Javanil (Oklahoma).
Some of the most popular former Golf Channel Big Break contestants are in the field including Big Break NFL winner Emily Talley, who finished 18th on the money list in 2014, and Big Break Myrtle Beach semifinalist Emily Tubert, a rookie on the Epson Tour who won the 2014 Dinah Shore award. Other past Big Break contestants in the field are Lili Alvarez, Katie Detlefsen, Shannon Fish, Selanee Henderson, Krista Puisite, Renee Skidmore and Kim Welch.
The Legends Tour field has added three-time LPGA Tour winner Sherri Turner, who replaces Amy Alcott. Turner was the 1988 Female Golfer of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America. The 30 former LPGA greats in the Legends Tour field accumulated a total of 410 career LPGA victories. The Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation 501 (c)(3) organization, which funds innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.
