Play during round one of the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club was suspended at 6:03pm due to dangerous weather in the area. Play was officially called for the day at 8:00pm with 56 players needing to finish their first round. Play will resume Friday morning.
Marina Alex and Karrie Webb took the early lead in the morning wave at 4-under par with opening rounds of 66. Webb is looking for her third victory at this event and eighth major championship. Alex however is making just her second start in this event and first since 2009 when she played as an amateur. When play was halted for the day, they led Amy Yang, Na Yeon Choi and Jane Park in a tie for second at 3-under par. Morgan Pressel was able to complete her round early in the day with a 2-under par 68. She is part of a group that also includes world number one Inbee Park who is 2-under through 14 holes.
