There has been a lot of movement on the bubble as teams begin to take shape ahead of this year’s UL International Crown. Making the biggest leap in recent weeks is Sei Young Kim who jumped from sixth in the standings for Republic of Korea to third following her victory at Blue Bay LPGA. Only the top-four players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings from each country will qualify for the team. With her move Kim bumps U.S. Women’s Open Champion In Gee Chun to fourth and Hyo Joo Kim to fifth in the team’s standings.
Also seeing some movement on the bubble are Teams Japan and Chinese Taipei. Japan’s Misuzu Narita dropped out of fourth place, replaced by Ayaka Watanabe who jumped up from sixth in the standings. Chinese Taipei’s Ssu-Chia Cheng and Wei Ling Hsu swapped spots in the fourth and fifth position in the latest standings.
The top eight countries will qualify for the second playing of the event, with England and Thailand currently in the final two spots. The two countries swapped spots in the latest standings with Thailand pulling just ahead of England who has dropped into the final spot with three of their top-four players dropping in the rankings. On the outside looking in is Team Spain who won this event the first go around. France currently rounds out the top-10 in the rankings with China ranked 11th, Denmark 12th and South Africa 13th.
