Michelle Wie has withdrawn from the RICOH Women’s British Open after 31 holes, citing ankle pain. She was 10-over par through 13 holes during Friday's second round and 14-over par for the championship.
Wie has battled bursitis in her hip as well as a bone spur in her foot for months. She took the last two weeks off to try and rehab her injuries including wearing a walking boot per doctor’s orders. Wie tweeted her initial prognosis after withdrawing from the Kingsmill Championship in May, revealing bursitis in her hip. Since then, Wie has made two of four cuts including an 11th place finish at the U.S. Women’s Open before withdrawing from the Marathon LPGA Classic due to her ongoing hip injury as well as a bone spur in her foot.
