Minjee Lee birdied her 17th hole of the day Friday to take the outright lead at 6-under par in the second round of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented by Banamex and JTBC. Lee's putter was spectacular today carding six birdies on the day.
“I just holed a couple 12-15 footers and on the par fives, I was kind of close,” Lee said.
Conditions today proved to be ideal and helped Lee post a low number and enjoy being on the top of the leaderboard one shot clear of Christina Kim, Sei Young Kim, Angela Stanford and Inbee Park, who each posted low rounds. Lee doesn't plan to change her approach tomorrow.
“The same, there’s nothing different I’m going to do on the golf course,” Lee said. “I’m going to stick to my golf and take it one shot at a time. I’m not feeling much different.”
Defending champion, Christina Kim, loves everything about this course.
"I love the fact that there are tight fairways you’ve got old trees, that show that there is a lot of history to this course," said Kim. "A lot of difficult greens with high heights that I love, I love being able to use my imagination, I like the idea of having to play shots. This course reminds me of a lot of course I grew playing in California; there’s no humidity here though that helps like I’m not opening sweating that helps."
