Hyo Joo Kim Cards Low Round in Championship History
While the 2014 Evian Championship may have been the first victory for Hyo Joo Kim on the LPGA Tour it was far form her first victory as a professional. Kim won three times on the KLPGA in 2014 before capturing the Evian Championship for her first major title. She won two more times on the KLPGA after her victory in September.
Kim carded the lowest round in the history of the event with an opening round 61. She went on to defeat Karrie Webb by one stroke at 11-under par to win the season’s final major.
Suzann Pettersen Gets Second Major Victory
Suzann Pettersen became the first winner of the Evian Championship as a major title. Pettersen won the weather shortened 54-hole event by two strokes at 1-under par, two-strokes ahead of Lydia Ko. The win marked the second major victory for Pettersen. She finished sixth in 2014, one of four top-10 finishes she has in this event.
Stacy Lewis Cards Low Round of Career
Stacy Lewis carded the low round of her career in the opening round of the 2012 Evian Championship. She has since matched the number in five more events. Lewis finished in a tie for second that year, two strokes behind winner Inbee Park. Lewis missed the cut in this event just once in 2010, but otherwise has never finished outside the top-17.
Karrie Webb Loves Evian
The 2006 champion and three-time runner-up, Karrie Webb has had the most success in the history of the Evian Championship. Webb has never missed a cut in her 14 starts and six times has finished in the top-10. Webb has a scoring average of 70.30 in this event.
First RAMA Goes to Michelle Wie
Michelle Wie won the inaugural Rolex Annika Major Award at the 2014 Evian Championship, given to the top performer in the season's major championships. Wie won the 2014 U.S. Women's Open to secure the top spot in the season long points race.
