M.J. HUR ON A ROLL
Mi Jung (M.J.) Hur has played some of the best golf of her six-year career over the past month and broke back into the winner's circle in decisive fashion at the Yokohama LPGA Classic. Hur shot a tournament record 21-under par in Prattville, Alabama to capture her second career win and first victory since 2009.
Hur gained momentum after a top-10 finish at the Portland Classic Presented by Cambia Health Solutions, followed by a tie for third at The Evian Championship and finally clinching her win in Alabama. Her strong performance heading into the Tour’s Asia swing and her dominant victory in Alabama has named her the Kia Most Compelling Performance for the month of September.
Hur shot three rounds in the 60's (64-70-67-66) at the Senator Course at Capitol Hill on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail including a 64 in the first round to match her career-low round. The South Korea native stayed on the leaderboard throughout the week, and outlasted a surging World No. 1 Stacy Lewis in the final round with a 6-under 66. Hur finished four shots ahead of Lewis and broke the tournament scoring record with a 21-under par total. Prior to her win in Alabama, Hur’s only victory came over five years ago at the 2009 Safeway Classic in her rookie season.
