Former LPGA major winner and U.S. Solheim Cup representative Nancy Scranton was recently honored by the University of Kentucky Athletics Department and will be inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Lexington on September 14. Scranton, who retired after the 2008 LPGA season and moved to the Jacksonville area with her husband when he began a job with the PGA TOUR, will become the first Wildcat female golfer to join the Hall of Fame. She played for the Wildcats from 1983-84 after two years at Florida State University. Scranton won three times in a 25-year career on the LPGA Tour and has added four more wins on the Legends Tour, where she continues to compete. The 51-year-old is also the mother of seven-year-old twins, Luke and Libby. Five other athletes, including PGA TOUR winner and Ryder Cup member J.B. Holmes, will also be inducted at this year’s ceremony. Scranton has another Kentucky connection – she is sponsored by Humana, the health insurance company headquartered in Louisville.
