(JANUARY 3, 2011 – CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.) – For fans seeking to get a unique, behind-the-scenes view of the LPGA’s Kia Classic, there’s no better way to do so than by serving as a tournament volunteer.
The Kia Classic, to be held March 21-27 at Industry Hills Golf Club, is seeking up to 600 volunteers. Volunteer efforts are critical to the operation and success of the tournament.
Prospective volunteers can register, and find descriptions of all available volunteer committees, via the tournament’s official Web site, www.kiaclassic.com, or by calling the tournament office at 1-888-SEE-LPGA. “We’re truly appreciative of the important role that volunteers play in the success of our event,” said Dennis Baggett, the Kia Classic’s tournament director. “I’m also keenly aware of the enjoyment and satisfaction that tournament volunteers receive from getting involved, and I would strongly encourage anyone who has never volunteered at a golf tournament to give it a try.” The Kia Classic – which brings the LPGA back to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles for the first time in five years – will feature a full field of 144 LPGA players battling for a $1.7 million purse at the tournament’s new host venue, Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms. Tournament week will feature a qualifier and practice rounds Monday, practice rounds Tuesday, a Pro-Am on Wednesday and four competitive rounds Thursday-Sunday.
