Hello everyone, sorry for not updating for such a long time. I never feel like I have anything to talk about, but I realize there's usually something that would be fun to share. I just have to get myself in front of the computer and start writing. I'm going to start writing more frequently, so hopefully you'll check back again soon and I'll have other stories to share. Here are some things that have been going on recently…
During the Michelob Ultra tournament in Williamsburg, VA, Busch Gardens hosted an LPGA party. I love riding rollercoasters, so I went with a couple friends that night. The first ride ended up being like a magic show- when I got on the ride I had my cell phone and when I got off the ride, 'poof' it was gone! My phone just slipped out of my pocket and joined what is probably a graveyard of personal items under loop #1. Well, a trip to the Verizon store the next day, and now I'm rocking the Blackberry Storm, which is a very cool phone- I love it!
I got my first Top 10 on the LPGA! I played well at the Wegman's in Rochester, NY, so it was a fun week. On the weekend, I was paired with Michelle Wie, Kristy McPherson, and Ji Young Oh. It was exciting to play with great players and be in contention. The final round didn't go as well as I had hoped, but I'm still happy with the way I played that week. It was a great experience and hopefully I can get my name back on the leaderboard a couple more times this year…and add another 'Kim' up there :p
Well, so the way the LPGA schedule worked out and my position on the money list gave me a seven-week break- great. Unfortunately, I didn't qualify for the U.S. or British Open, I wasn't ranked high enough for the Evian Masters, and I'm not American enough for the Solheim Cup :p
I pretty much have just been practicing during my off weeks. I went to Texas to play with my godfather who lives in a country club. It's really nice to drive a golf cart from your garage and be on the 1st tee in a couple minutes. However, it's not really nice when you get to that 1st tee and you're already sweating- it was over 100 degrees there! By the end of the week, I wasn't leaving the house until 6 p.m. when it was cooler, and just played nine holes, so I picked up on jetskiing. It was quiet awesome because I never knew that jetskis go 60 miles per hour. FAST! Hey, you have to balance rest, comfort, and happiness with all that practice, right? Right.
One exciting thing that just popped up is that I'm playing in Paige MacKenzie's charity pro-am on August 16. Paige is one of my good friends on tour and she has an annual tournament to raise money for local charities in her home state of Washington. It's a great event and I'm excited to be part of something special.
Well my next tournament is in Portland, Oregon, and I'm so excited that I'm playing again.
Don't forget to check back!
Mindy
